Cryogenic & Ultra-Cold Medical Transport (-80°C and Below)

The coldest temperatures in medical logistics. carGO Health provides ultra-cold transport at -80°C (dry ice) and cryogenic transport at -150°C and below (liquid nitrogen-compatible) for research specimens, cryopreserved reproductive materials, cell therapies, and specialized biologicals.

Understanding Ultra-Cold and Cryogenic Ranges

Ultra-Cold (-60°C to -80°C): Achieved with dry ice (-78.5°C). Suitable for most ultra-cold research specimens, certain biologics, frozen blood products requiring extended cold chain, and clinical trial specimens with ultra-cold protocol requirements.

Cryogenic (-150°C and below): Achieved with liquid nitrogen (-196°C) or liquid nitrogen vapor phase (-150°C to -190°C). Required for cryopreserved cells, reproductive specimens (embryos, oocytes, sperm), stem cell products, and certain cell therapy materials.

Materials Requiring Cryogenic Transport

Cryopreserved Embryos & Oocytes: IVF embryos and donor eggs stored in liquid nitrogen require cryogenic-temperature transport between facilities.

Cryopreserved Sperm: Donor and patient sperm samples in cryogenic storage for transport between banks and fertility clinics.

Stem Cells & Cell Therapies: Hematopoietic stem cells, CAR-T products, and other cell therapy materials requiring cryogenic temperatures.

Research Cell Lines: Cryopreserved cell lines moving between research laboratories and biorepositories.

Ultra-Cold Research Specimens: Tissue samples, protein preparations, and other research materials requiring -80°C storage during transport.

Our Ultra-Cold & Cryogenic Transport Capabilities

Dry Ice Transport (-80°C): DOT-compliant dry ice packaging, handling, and documentation for ultra-cold materials. Our standard ultra-cold offering.

Cryogenic Shipper Compatibility: For materials requiring liquid nitrogen temperatures, we transport pre-loaded cryogenic dry shippers (vapor-phase LN2 containers) between facilities. These are the industry-standard containers used by IVF clinics, cell banks, and research facilities.

Trained Couriers: Couriers trained in ultra-cold and cryogenic material handling safety, including dry ice DOT regulations and cryogenic container protocols.

Documentation: chain-of-custody, handling documentation, and temperature records for every ultra-cold and cryogenic shipment.

24/7 Availability: Cryogenic materials don’t follow business hours. STAT dispatch available around the clock.

A Note on Cryogenic Transport Scope

carGO Health provides local and regional courier transport of cryogenic materials in client-provided or industry-standard dry shippers. We do not provide the cryogenic storage containers themselves or long-haul cryogenic freight services. For local transport of cryopreserved materials between facilities within our Northeast coverage area, we provide the secure, documented courier service you need.

Materials Requiring Cryogenic Transport

Cryogenic medical transport below -150°C serves a specialized but growing category of healthcare materials. Reproductive specimens—oocytes, sperm, and embryos—require liquid nitrogen vapor shipping for inter-facility transfers between IVF clinics. Cell therapy products, including CAR-T cells and other advanced therapy medicinal products, demand cryogenic conditions throughout their logistics chain. Biorepository transfers of long-term stored biospecimens for research and clinical trials require validated cryogenic transport.

carGO Health's cryogenic transport service uses validated liquid nitrogen vapor shippers with continuous temperature monitoring. Our couriers receive specialized training in cryogenic handling, including proper shipper charging, orientation requirements, and the safety protocols unique to working with liquid nitrogen. White-glove service is standard for all cryogenic shipments.
